About Canyons & Chefs
Canyons and Chefs specializes in Adventure Culinary Experiences that illuminate the mind, refresh the body, and nourish the soul. Born of two companies, Canyons and Chefs is the meeting place between wilderness adventure and fine food and drink.
Our two “parent companies” were once known as Red Rock Culinary (a private chef firm) and Blue Marble Adventure GeoTourism (a geology-focused guided hiking outfitter). They have created the daughter, Canyons and Chefs, colliding the two worlds of fine restaurant dining and natural exploration.
After operating the dueling companies for nearly 4 years, it was actually our guests that inspired him to integrate the two concepts. So many of our private chef firm clients are deeply interested in the outdoors and natural settings of our beloved American West, while so many of our adventure hiking clients are blown away by the food we offer on our tours.
Henceforth, we’ve created an incredibly unique concept: adventure culinary experiences. Hike and adventure by day, return to camp and have a meal that rival some of the tastiest you’ve ever had.
About Our Founder
Our founder, Billy Woods, is a classically trained chef and an educated geologist. Upon graduating from Western Colorado University in Gunnison with degrees in business and psychology he made the leap into professional chefdom, enrolling in culinary school for an apprenticeship program in Vail, Colorado.
He spent the initial parts of his career working in some of the finest restaurants in North America, cutting his teeth in Michelin-starred restaurants from Colorado to California. After several years he left the restaurant life to pursue his passion for the outdoors, gaining his MS in geology from Northern Arizona University in Flagstaff, AZ.
Chef Billy has an extraordinary passion for food, service, adventure, learning, and teaching. From our intimate private chef experiences in your home to our wilderness adventures through time and space, We strive to create the most memorable and outstanding experiences for each of our beloved guests.
Mr. Woods now lives in Fort Collins, Colorado and operates Canyons and Chefs with his beautiful wife, Emily, and three young boys.
